Cuba: A World Ecological Power

Cuba is the first country in the world to attempt to restructure its society along ecological lines. This decision was partly a result of urgent necessity, partly the result of conviction and partly a retrospective realization that that is what they were doing for a variety of short-term reasons. For instance urban gardens were being developed to grow food, but city planners see it also as part of a process of ruralization or humanization of city life.
